Be prepared for everything
You’re diving at a dept of 20m. The water is clear and warm. You’ve spotted a puffer fish and are following it around a reef. It swims just out of sight, so you and your buddy put some power in those kicks. This is the first time you’ve seen a puffer fish, so you can’t wait to see it up close. You come around the corner with a smile on your face. But it fades, quickly. There is a diver laying on the reef with his head faced downwards. You turn to your buddy, who’s eyes are wide and white and clearly has no idea what to do. So you swim to the diver and start tapping him on his shoulder. He doesn’t respond. Do you know what to do? If the answer is no, but you want to learn how, and everything else you need to know when it comes to safety, then this course is your next step to becoming a diver who is prepared for everything!
What you’ll learn:
- Self rescue
- Recognizing and managing stress in other divers
- Emergency management and equipment
- Rescuing panicked divers
- Rescuing unresponsive divers
The pool dive
The Rescue Course consists of two pool dives on a Monday or Wednesday. During these dives, you get familiar with all the emergency situations. Different scenarios arise, and you learn the right technique and theory to make them run as smoothly as possible.
The open water dives
After the pool dives, it’s time to put your skills to practice in the open water. During 4 dives, divided over two weekend days, you will be confronted with all different sorts of emergency scenario’s. You and your fellow students will have to work together to achieve a positive outcome. We are not going to say which exercises you will do exactly, but make sure you are prepared for everything!
The theory
You’ll do most of the theory at home. The E-learning consists of five chapters, each with a knowledge review at the end. After completing all the chapters, you make an online exam. You need to get 75% or more of the questions correct to pass. When seeing your instructor again, you have a shorter exam, and you submit your dive plan.
